I found this pattern in Veronik Avery's book Knitting Classic Style.  They looked like something that Devan would love so I ordered enough kettle dyed sock yarn from Knitpicks to make 8 pairs of socks -- yeah, it's overkill but a girl likes to have choices.

I knew that sock yarn would be best for Devan because of her -- ahem -- laundry problem.  I have forgiven her for shrinking two pairs of beautiful hand made alpaca socks but I will obviously never, never forget.  I made her up a set for Christmas and she loved them, her friends loved them, and I loved them.  These are not hers, they are mine because I loved them so much that I had to crank out a set for myself.  It appears that buying enough to make a dozen sets of these may not necessarily have been overkill after all.  I am particularly fond of the gloves, which are elbow length, combining glamour and practicality, particularly when worn with the Irish Cape.
